fgrep - extends grep to handle multiple files
Syntax: fgrep [options] [‘pattern’] [files]
fgrep -c 'elm' * to count the lines that contain “elm” in all the files in the directory
fgrep -ci 'elm' * to ignore case: “Elm”, “Elmer”
fgrep -cv 'pine' *.mif to count lines in every file that do not contain the string, “pine”
